If you’re anything like me, you’re sometimes so distracted and caught up in sorting out all the Christmas presents you need to buy, that you suddenly find that Christmas is here and you haven’t had a chance to think about whether you need to buy more glasses, crockery and tablelinen so you’re ready for your guests over Christmas and New Year. If that’s the case, here are a few ideas to help you get your tableware in shape for your Christmas entertaining.
First of all, I think it’s always important to have pretty champagne glasses that add a touch of sophistication to the celebrations – whether it’s for Christmas lunch or New Year’s Eve toasts. We have a number of hand painted champagne flutes that we think will fit the bill. A range of 3 designs in gold and white that are absolutely ideal for the festive season.

Alternatively if prefer to add a splash of colour to the table, we have some gorgeous hand painted champagne glasses in shades of aqua and purple that will certainly add a certain “je ne sais quoi” to quaffing your favourite fizz.

If you’re looking for wine glasses, we have a number of hand painted glasses that will make a pretty addition to the Christmas table, and wine glasses with attractive etched designs that will certainly add a touch of French style to your celebrations. Simply go to the glassware section of the site to view the full range.
On to crockery now, and I think that when you’re entertaining at Christmas it’s always nice to have pretty bowls and dishes for nibbles and dips – or to serve those fantastic little appetisers you can buy in M&S. This is where the range of hand painted tableware from Festin Coquin comes in handy. With the wide range of small bowls and dishes that we have on the site you’ll be spoilt for choice! Choose from scalloped or heart-shaped dishes at £13.75 each or slightly smaller square versions at £10.75. Mix and match the patterns and shapes for maximum impact. We just love these little dishes – not only are they microwave and dishwasher proof, they can also go in the oven – so you can use them for individual creme brulees, tarts or crumbles. We think they make great gifts as well.

If you really want to push the boat out, you can create a great statement piece by combining the dishes with one of our square platters. A single heart-shaped dish or scalloped dish in the centre of the platter can hold the dip, with the crisps or breadsticks around it. Or place four square dishes on the platter for maximum impact. All the small dishes can be viewed in the French tableware section of the site.

If you’re looking to ring the changes with your dinnerware this year, we have a wide range of patterned dinner plates and side plates from Festin Coquin as well as pretty, hand painted octagonal plates in blue, green or ivory from Souleo – another artisan producer based in Aix en Provence. Dinner plates are £15.95, side plates £13.95 and matching octagonal bowls are £19.25. All Souleo pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe.
